India / Okhla plant went operational
The highly controversial Okhla WTE plant started burning waste on 3 January. The plant, located in a suburb of New Delhi, was subject to many protests. To appease environmental concerns, the government of the city said it would intensively monitor the plant's emissions. The facility is designed to burn 135,000 tons of RDF per year and to generate 132,000 MWh of electricity annually.
